Obituary for Frank Bishop Volentine

Mr. Frank Bishop Volentine, age 87, of Florence passed from this life on Thursday, February 26, 2009 to be joined again in Heaven with his beloved wife of 63 years, Marjorie.
Frank was born in Athens, Louisiana but lived most of his life in Albertville, Alabama. He served in the US Navy during WW II in the South Pacific aboard the destroyer USS Taussig, DD 746.
He was a member of the North Broad Church of Christ and the Albertville Civitan Club and served as the Albertville City Clerk from 1972 to 1984. In 1996 he and his wife moved to Florence to be near a son and his family. Mrs. Volentine passed away May 19, 2007.
He was a member of the Florence Boulevard Church of Christ and was preceded in death by siblings Minuet, Doris, Daniel Bell and Floyd.
The funeral service will be held Monday at 10:00 a.m. at the Elkins Funeral Home Chapel. Chris Kemp will officiate. Burial, with military honors, will follow in Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
He is survived by sons Major Morris Volentine, USAF retired and his wife Brenda, Gulfport, Mississippi, and Malcolm Volentine and his wife Sandra, Florence; grandchildren Crystal Hunt, Florence, Michael Volentine, New Orleans, LA, Chad Volentine, Myrtle Beach, SC, Daniel Volentine and Tim Volentine, Palm Coast, FL, and Christopher Volentine, Gulfport, MS; great-grandchildren Destin and Aubrey Volentine, Beth Raney, Kenny Hunt, T.J. Hunt, Ryan, Gabriel, Angel, Brandan, Caitlin, DeAnna, Gavin, and Hannah Volentine; sister-in-law Avis Volentine, Shreveport, LA; seven nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Brindley, Ken Hunt, T.J. Hunt, Kenny Hunt, Dale Boren, and Charles Parker.
The sons and their families would like to offer special thanks to Dr. Robert Webb and the staffs of Glenwood Rehabilitation and Glenwood Convalescent Center for the special care, love, and compassion shown Mr. Volentine.
