Obituary for Jerry Noah Darby

Jerry Noah Darby age 93 of Florence passed away on Tuesday, April 5, 2016. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening, April 7, 2016 from 5:00pm till 7:00pm at Elkins Funeral Home of Florence. Services will be held at Canaan United Methodist Church on Friday, April 8, 2016, at 3:00pm with Bro. Jeff Wade, Bro. Jerry Hastings and Bro. Chuck Canterbury officiating. Burial will be in Canaan Cemetery.

He is preceded in death by his wives, Sara Angel Darby and Violet Peppers Darby.

Jerry is survived by his son Ben Darby (Tina) of Huntsville and his daughter Cora Bird (Ricky) of Florence. One sister, Katherine McIntyre. Two brothers, Henry Louis Darby (Cordelia) and Marion Darby. Four grandchildren, Renae Scott (Keith), Amy Stricklin (Chris), Julianna Darby and Noah Darby. And two great grandchildren, Alexia Scott and Aria Scott.

Mr. Darby was a member of Canaan United Methodist Church, a member of Central Civitan Club and served during World War II in the Navy aboard the U.S.S Enterprise.

Pallbearers will be friends and family.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Amedisys Hospice Group for their care.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canaan United Methodist Church and/or the Habitat for Humanity.
