Obituary for Donald Wilson Williams

Don Williams, 75, of Killen died Sunday, April 23, 2017, at his residence.
Visitation will be Tuesday, April 25, 2017, 6-8 PM at Elkins East Chapel. Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 26, 2017, 1 PM at Elkins East Chapel, with Bro. Bill Lyons officiating. Burial will be at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Williams earned his Bachelor’s Degree from LSU. He was a member of Center Star Church of Christ.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Wilson “Bill” and Dorothy Williams; sisters, Judith Taylor and Phyllis Chapman; niece, Sherry Taylor; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Sankey and Mamie Brittingham; sisters-in-law, Bobbie Weaver and Margaret Brittingham.
To cherish his memory, Don leaves behind his loving wife of 54 years Marilyn; his beloved daughter, Sandy Williams. He also leaves behind his two sons whom he loved, David and Stephen (Jeanie) Williams; grandson, Lucas Williams; sister, Mary Creighton (Mark); brother-in-law, Everett Brittingham; several nieces and nephews; his much loved cat, “Patches”.
Don was known for his wonderful sense of humor and his loving care for his family. He was compassionate, intelligent, generous, and hard working. Examples of his compassion include him taking sleeping bags to the homeless; buying groceries for strangers; and leading the singing at nursing homes and churches of Christ across three states. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Pallbearers will be Mark Creighton, Sr., Andy Creighton, Billy Smith, Jordan Ashe, Danny Stafford, and Tommy Woods. Honorary pallbearer will be Trent Taylor.
Mr. Williams’ family would like to extend a special thanks to, AlaCare Hospice; caregivers Mable, Brenda, Pam, Allie, Kerrie, and Annie; special friends at Center Star Church of Christ.
