Obituary for Margie Lorraine Engel

Margie Loraine Engel died Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at ECM Hospital. She was born October 26, 1921 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to the late William and Ida (Kunkel) Otto, both descendants of German immigrants. She is survived by daughter, Susan (Keith) Larson, Florence, AL, and daughter-in-law, Carol Engel, Maplewood, MN; grandchildren Eric (Marian) Larson, Raleigh, NC, Wade (Elizabeth) Larson, Franklin, TN, Katy (Christopher) Reynolds, Chattanooga, TN, Matthew (Lisa Ahnell) Engel, St. Paul, MN, Laura Engel, St. Paul, MN and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by husband, Roy K Engel, son Michael R Engel and her six siblings; Bernice, Norman, twins Caroline and William (Billy), Elizabeth (Betty) and Raymond.
She loved to bake, grow colorful flowers and was a talented artist. She had a lovely singing voice and was a terrific joke-teller. She always had a positive outlook and seeing happiness in others was her greatest joy.
Most of all, Margie loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They are thankful for her love and support.
Margie will be so missed, but all who loved her are thankful for the love, light, and laughter she brought to their lives.
Private services will be held at a later date.
The family expresses special thanks to the staff of ECM Hospital ICU and Palliative Care units. Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to The Salvation Army or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Margie’s favorite charities.
