Obituary for Larry McKinney Haddock

Larry McKinney Haddock, age 63, of Florence, passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2017, after a lengthy illness. Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of his life on Sunday, December 3, from 2 – 4 PM, at the Haddock home.

Larry was born March 4, 1954, in Florence, Alabama to Sammy Wayne Haddock and Gerri McKinney Haddock. He was a 1972 graduate of Coffee High School and received his Bachelor’s Degree from Jacksonville State University in 1976.

Larry was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing, who “grew up” at Florence Golf and Country Club, where he developed a lifelong passion for the game of golf; he was also a devoted Auburn football fan, who felt their 2017 Iron Bowl win over Alabama was a gift to him.

Larry’s humor, quick wit and sunny disposition brought light and laughter to everyone he encountered. His courage and “glass-half-full” attitude during his illness was an inspiration to family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Lee Haddock; son, Victor Pate (Jasmine); son, Chase Yeargan (Kayla); daughter, Amanda Skinner (William); granddaughters Kylia Gillis, and Mia McKinney Yeargan; and “adopted” son, Brock Tate (Christina), and by a circle of close, lifelong friends.

Larry and his older brother Samuel “Bo” Haddock, who remained close friends for all their lives, left together, and departed this world within hours of each other.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to The Inclusion Body Myositis Foundation, 897 Washington St, # 600005, Newton, MA 02460.
