Condolences

Condolence From: Steve Woody
Condolence: To Mrs. Gilmore's family: I am so sorry for your loss. Wanda was my teacher for 7 years until college. She was patient when i got frustrated or distracted (which happened a LOT), and she really knew how to tap into my interests as a musician. It was always a joy to go to her house. She was soft and sympathetic when i went through breakups with girlfriends and cried through my lessons, and she always had hot apple cider and cookies at Christmas. Her love for the Lord was obvious, and her mastery of piano and organ were inspirational. Blessings to the entire family.

Condolence: To Cheri, Chuck, and Deana, and all of Wanda's family: I received the news of Wanda's passing with great sorrow. Early in my 13 years teaching music in Florence, she became a dear and greatly valued friend and colleague, whose musical talents and achievements I held in high esteem. In addition to those, she was unfailingly warm, gracious, kind, thoughtful, and generous; she was beautiful in every sense of the word. I am so thankful that she came into my life, and even in death I know she will never leave it. May she rest in peace and rise in glory, and may God grant you consolation in this hard loss.

Condolence: I am grieved by news of the death of my good friend, Wanda Gilmore. Wanda and I enjoyed many late-night chats and morning cups of coffee. She and I were both charter members of the Shoals Music Teachers Forum. From its beginning, Wanda was professional, inspiring, collegial, wise, friendly, gracious, and gentle. Through many personal trials, she never flagged in her enthusiastic commitment to the Forum and to Alabama Music Teachers Association. She received designation as a Nationally Certified Teacher Of Music through the Music Teachers National Association. . Her students played with the musicality and flair she had conveyed to them, as we saw and heard in her own playing. Through the years, she had several State winners and many grateful students. I cherish our personal friendship, and thank her for helping me be a better teacher. She was also a faithful and supportive customer at Ryan Piano Company, owned by my husband, Robert. He always looked forward to her visits, and was deeply grateful for her business.
