Obituary for Brant A. Young

Brant A. Young, 59, a well-known Florence attorney, died at his home FridayBrant A. Young, 59, a well-known Florence attorney, died at his home Friday morning, August 26, 2011. He was a lifelong resident of Florence.
Brant graduated from Coffee High School in 1970 and the University of Alabama Law School in 1978. That same year he joined the Poellnitz/Cox law firm. He was a Deacon at Mars Hill Church of Christ and a longtime soccer coach and enthusiast.
A service to remember his life will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the Mars Hill Church of Christ. Cory Collins and Bill Bagents will officiate and Randy Whitten and Bobby Griffin will offer eulogies. Visitation will follow in the church annex until 1:00 p.m. The graveside service will have been held at 10:00 a.m. at Greenview Memorial Park. Elkins Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Brant is survived by his wife of 33 years, Judy Young; a daughter Anne Lauren Young of Florence; a son Judson Brant Young and wife Julie of Muscle Shoals; a grandson Luke Young; his mother Melanie Young of Florence; a brother Vance Young and wife Robin of Florence; sister-in-law Jane Wilson and husband Mike of Florence; brother-in-law Andy Rickard and wife Judith of Lexington a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Marvin E. Young.
Pallbearers will be Tim Morrow, Randy Whitten, Peter Paine, Bobby Griffin, Don Boggan and Tom McRight. Honorary bearers will be Judge Leslie Johnson, Judge Deborah Bell Paseur, Keith Medley and Hillard Matthews, H.M. Perritt and Henry King.
The family wishes to thank Hospice of the Shoals, NW Alabama Cancer Center and Dr. Lyman Mitchell.
