Obituary for Cathy Young

Cathy Young

Mary Catherine Young, 59, died Monday, November 23, 2015, at ECM Hospital after a brief illness. Visitation will be on Friday, November 27, 2015, at Elkins Funeral Home from 2-3 PM. A graveside service will follow at 3:30 PM at Greenview Memorial Park.

Cathy was born November 9, 1956, in Florence, Alabama. She attended King’s Daughters’ School in Columbia, Tennessee, for 25 years. After returning home to Florence, she spent several years at Hope Haven Adult Training Center in Tuscumbia. Cathy loved meeting new friends. She also enjoyed swimming, square dancing, and competing in the Special Olympics.

Cathy was preceded in death by her parents, Helen and Bill Young.

Cathy is survived by a sister, Susan Haddock; brother Bob Young and wife, Judy; nieces and nephews, Jennifer King, Brian Haddock, Andy Haddock, Libby Shadinger, Whitney Srouji, and Jenny Bell.

Pallbearers will be nephews and family members.

Special thanks and love to Dr. Robert Webb and staff at Glenwood Nursing Home for the love and excellent care they have extended to her. She loved every staff member at Glenwood as if they were her own family.
