Condolence: I was so shocked to learn only today (6/18/2017) of Leland's passing. We were best of friends through Gilbert School and Coffee Jr. High. I have a collection of letters written to me by classmates in 4th grade, Miss Myrtle Herrings class when I had been out sick. Everyone's main story to me was the fight Leland had with someone in the class. He must have won mightily. And I have many fond memories of our fishing trips, some in the dead of winter to try Leland's new outboard motor. After my move to Huntsville in 1951, Leland would come over to spend time with me and I would go with he and his parents for summer vacations. Dessie and Palmer were like second parents to me. I have the memories, but will miss the person . . . . my condolences to Miriam and family.
