Obituary for James Fay Young

James Fay Young, 90, of Florence, Alabama (Central Heights) passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2016. He was born June 19, 1926 to Bob and Callie Fielder Young.

He grew up in Wrights, Alabama. He served in the US Navy on Board the Ship USS Webber as a gunner. After returning from service he was employed with Reynolds Alloy’s Plant with many special friends and co-workers for 42 years till retiring. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church serving on the Deacon Board until his health failed. He was a member of American Legion Post 11, the DAV Sheffield Post, and also part of a Prison Ministry for over 35 years. He was a hard worker and a good provider while enjoying Fox hunting with buddies, gardening, fishing with son’s and grandson’s and he loved singing and listening to Gospel music.

Mr. Young was preceded in death by a son, James Richard (Jimmy) Young; three brothers; two sisters.

Mr. Young is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Reba Louise Palmer Young; son, Timothy Lee Young; special grandsons, Jeffery Nolan Young and Jeremy Lee Young which he called and considered his boys; Jessie Young mother of his grandsons; brother, J.N. Young of Mishawaka, Indiana; several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Wednesday, November 23, 2016, 11 AM to 12 PM at Elkins Funeral Home, Florence. Funeral services will follow at 12 PM with Rev. Richard Kelley and Rev. Tom Sibley officiating. Burial will be at Wesley Chapel with military honors.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Young, Jeremy Young, Larry Sharp, Travis Brown, Jeff Palmer, and Greg Palmer.

Honorary pallbearers will be Wesley Smith, Chad Smith, Todd Palmer, Billy Blasingame, Alford Williams, Butch Gray, Jerry McGee and employees, Jay Howton, Ray Hargett, Bob Springer, Mike Lard, Art Wisert, and Winford Riner.

Special thanks to dedicated Dr.’s and nurses of ECM Hospital for compassionate care, Gentiva Home Health and employee’s especially Genia Marie, Central Pharmacy and employee’s, and Milner Rushing Pharmacy and employee’s especially Brain.
