Condolence From: Billiy H. Banks

Condolence: To all the McCrary family:

JoAn and I were so sorry to learn that Leon had
passed away. We met him at Ryan's Restaurant (now Golden Corral) in Florence some time ago.
We were at the restaurant most every Friday when Leon ate with several friends including Mr.& Mrs. Paul Evans, Dru and Ed Gambrell and others. Sometimes he would come by our table and talk and sometimes I would go back and say hello when he was with the group of friends. I was in Germany about a dozen years after WWII during peace time and have often said I am not worthy to hold a light to those wonderful men,who hit those beaches and went in harm's way in bombing raids (like Leon)over Germany dodging anti-aircraft fire.
Leon told me about the anti-aircraft shell hitting one of the plane's gas tanks and that it failed to explode. The chances are that shell failing to explode are infinitesmial. How blessed can you be?! I want you to know that I appreciate Leon so much and count it a privilege to have known him for a few years.
May God bless all the family at this difficult time.
