Obituary for Virginia Christine Ingrum (Staggs)

Virginia Christine Ingrum (Staggs)

Christine Staggs Ingrum, 96, of Florence passed away Sunday, December 10, 2017 at ECM. Visitation will be at Elkins Funeral Home Wednesday, December 13, 2017 beginning at 12:30 P.M. until 2:00 P.M., followed by a chapel service at 2:00 P.M. Burial will be at FlorenceCity Cemetery.

She was preceded in death by her second husband William Buell Ingrum; her first husband, Aaron Kephart; parents Horace and Velma Pounders Staggs; daughter, Shirley Kephart Minshew; grandchild, Gina Minshew; great grandchild, Brynn Nicole Davis; sister, Pauline Staggs Morrison; and brother Horace Marvin Staggs, Jr.

She is survived by her daughters, Charlotte Burgess (Phillip), Bonnie Davis (Kenny); grandchildren, William Minshew, Glen Gist (Kim), Christina Davis, Daniel Davis (Penny), and Luke Davis (Melissa); great grandchildren, Jarrett Minshew, Tyler Gist, Matt Gist, Tori Baughman, Christian Sandy, Nicolas Sandy, Logan Sandy, Haleigh Bevis, Jaxon Bevis, Jameson Davis, Norah Davis, Madi Davis, Charlie Davis; and sister, Mary Magdalene Staggs Willis.

She attended the First Church of the Nazarene in Florence in earlier years and later The River. She loved the outdoors, growing flowers and vegetables, watching her hummingbirds feed and squirrels play, watching people walk up and down the street and trying to figure out where they lived, but the real joy in her life was sitting on her carport and when a car pulled into the driveway, watching the door open and her babies come spilling out and run to her for a big hug. Then came the famous question, "Are you hungry? Come on in and Mamaw will fix you something to eat!" Mamaw was always the caregiver. She answered to many names over the years, Christine, Chris, Cricket, Aunty, Mother, Mom, Mama, Grandmother, Memaw, Mamaw, and Mimmaw, but one thing remained the same, she was everyone's Granny, and there will never be another one who can fill her shoes.

Pallbearers will be; Daniel Davis, Luke Davis, Christian Sandy, Kenny Lane, Nicolas Sandy, and Logan Sandy. Honorary pallbearers are Del Chandler, Michael Sandy, and Neal Myrick.

The Family would like to offer special thanks to Dr. William Hobbs and the staff at ECM Hospital, especially palliative care nurses.
